Old Naples moving for older homes and tight streets
Old Naples is one of the neighborhoods we most want to work in, and Justin does the estimates here in person. Older houses and beach-end streets take a little more planning, so he looks at both.
Older houses, narrower doors
Many homes here were built before deep sofas and king beds. Measure the front door, the space between porch posts and any turn in the stairs. If a piece came in before a remodel or a new door, tell us, because it may need its legs or top removed to get back out. Justin checks the tight spots during the walkthrough, which takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
Where the truck can park
Old Naples streets are narrow, and the City of Naples does not allow trucks to park within a block of the beach, so the beach end of your avenue is not a loading spot. Show Justin where a truck can stop at the house, like the driveway or the curb out front, and if it has to stand a little farther away, we plan the longer carry into the day. A quick word to neighbors who share your drive or alley helps too.
Antiques, chests and tall clocks
Older homes tend to hold older things: a secretary desk, a sea chest, a clock that has stood in one corner for decades. A grandfather clock needs its weights and pendulum removed and packed separately before it moves. Our antique and clock moving page covers that. Old wood pieces are packed tight, wrapped in quilt pads and finished with shrink wrap, so nothing shifts on the truck.
Moving to something smaller
Some Old Naples owners are trading a house for a condo or a senior apartment. Start with the new room sizes, and we help you work out which furniture fits. Our downsizing help covers what goes with you, and the rest can go to family, consignment or donation as part of the move. If you are moving into a cottage instead, walk it with a tape measure first, since an armoire from a newer house may not clear a narrow hall.
