Raised homes and condo lots
On Sanibel the hard part is usually the last stretch: a raised house with a long outside stair, or a shared condo lot. Send photos of where a truck can park and the path up to the living space. Ask your association about loading rules and hours, since they vary between complexes. If an elevator serves your unit, reserve it for the whole move and ask whether the building needs anything from the mover first.
Packing out for storm repairs
When a home needs repairs after a storm, the furniture has to come out first. Our restoration pack-outs cover packing the contents, storing them while the work is done and bringing everything back. We do not do the building repairs. During the walkthrough, point out what can be thrown away so we only store what you want returned. This work gets busy after hurricanes, so call as soon as you know repairs are coming.
Bringing it all back
Before you pick a return date, ask the contractor which rooms are finished and whether the floors, stairs and doors are clear. Furniture that arrives before the floors are done ends up moved twice. When the truck comes back across, the crew sets each piece in the room you choose. If you also want boxes emptied into cabinets and closets, add unpacking to the plan.
Getting back onto Sanibel after a storm
After a major storm, getting back onto Sanibel can depend on a City reentry pass, so keep yours with your moving papers, and if you are moving onto the island, ask the City how to get one for the new address.
